ROUNDTABLE ON NIGERIA COCOA VALUE CHAIN HOLDS AUGUST 16, 2012 IN AKURE
 
A Roundtable on the Nigeria Cocoa Value Chain holds at the Royal Birds Hotel and Towers, Alagbaka, Akure on Thursday, August 16, 2012.
 
The event is being organised by the Centre for Cocoa Development Initiatives in conjunction with Cocoa Association of Nigeria and Cocoa Processors Association of Nigeria.
 
Ambassador Sona Ebai of the World Cocoa Foundation will chair the event that will bring key stakeholders in the Nigeria cocoa trade together to consider issues relating to the vertical and horizontal links in the chain.
 
Other confirmed guest speakers are Associate Professor Gboyega Oguntade, head of Agricultural Economics of the Federal University of Technology, Akure and Mr. Dayo Mejabi, a Value chain specialist. While Oguntade will deliver the Keynote Paper, Mejabi is lead discussant on value chain mapping.
 
Mr. Taiwo Ayoade, General Manager of Agro Traders Limited and Godwin Ukwu, Chief Executive of Ukwu Investments Limited have also confirmed their participation as discussants.
 
The Roundtable will address issues around emerging trends in the global cocoa value chain as well as challenges within the local industry.
 
According to the Chief Operating Officer of CCDI, Robo Adhuze, the event is expected to define the new face of cocoa trade in Nigeria.
 
Participants are drawn from farmers' cooperatives, LBAs, exporters, processors, trading houses, manufacturers, government and regulating agencies.
 
TONY FOFIE, COCOBOD CHIEF EXECUTIVE, TO DELIVER 3RD VICTOR IYAMA ANNUAL COCOA LECTURE
The 2011 Victor Iyama Annual Cocoa Lecture holds on Thursday, 8th December, 2011 in Monty Suites, Calabar, Nigeria.
 
The lecture will be delivered by Mr. Tony Fofie, Chief Executive of Ghana Cocoa Board and the title is Regional Collaboration for Integrated Development: Opportunities in the Cocoa Sector. The presentation will focus on collaboration opportunities in the cocoa industry that are mutually beneficial to governments and peoples of Africa.
 
COCOA ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA HOLDS AGM, ELECT NEW OFFICERS
Cocoa Association of Nigeria will hold her 2011 Annual General Meeting in Calabar, Nigeria on Friday December 9, 2011. The venue is Monty Suites. The main feature of the AGM will be election of new national and zonal leaders.
 
Delegates will elect a National President as well as 6 Vice Presidents for the six zones of the associations, a General Secretary and 6 assistants; one each of Treasurer, Financial Secretary, Director of Publicity; and a couple of ex-officio members.
